awesome seat June 29, 2010 Erica A. Garcia (CA, US) I love this seat-my friends call me a car seat nazi because I am so into the safety of children in cars. This is a great seat because your child can stay in it for much longer. My son is 5yrs old and weighs 50 pounds and he still has plenty of room for growing. It really is unsafe for a child to use a seat belt or even use the booster-the seat belts in cars are made to fit people with the height of 4 feet 9 inches. this seat gets you very close to that height-it is now replaced with the Britax Frontier 85 which allows one more inch of growth-make sure you are checking seated height and not just standing height when buying a car seat. Some children have longer torsos and so they could out grow the seats harness heightinstead of the whole ears above the top of the seat or before they out grow the seat in weight. Hope that makes sense.
Solid and Heavy April 1, 2010 R. Agahari (Los Angeles) Pros: Solid construction, lots of room (width-wise), 5-point harness, Fit in the middle seat of a smaller car (I drive Honda Fit 2010).
Cons: HEAVY! This means that it is not convenient to move it from car to car every day! Once you install it, it should ideally stay in that car. It does not install as easily (partly because it is heavy and unwieldy to maneuver). Despite following the instructions, I still don't feel that the car seat is anchored as solidly as if I was anchoring a Britax Marathon.
Background: We have always use Britax. When our daughter outgrows her Britax Marathon we got a Britax Regent. The Regent is very good and it works fine, we've used it for a year (It's just hard to beat Britax Marathon; I think its the best car seat ever). BTW, all Britax carseats really have a solid construction compare to other car seats I have inspected when I shopped around in the last 5 years.
Heavy, Huge but Wonderful February 7, 2010 Bean's Mom I have a very tall 20 month old. I have a Britax Marathon that I love. I needed a second car seat but saw how quickly my son is growing. This seat is great and my son is more comfortable. The seat is much heavier but worth it. The seat cover is easy to wash and replace.
Britax -- lifesaver February 1, 2010 Lynn A. Mccormick (Houston, TX) My 16 month old granddaughter was in her Britax when our truck hydroplaned at 65MPH and rolled up an embankment. The truck looked at a crumpled piece of paper and I suffered multiple severe and was air lifted to the nearest trauma center. My granddaughter, thank God, did not have even a bruise!! I highly recommend Britax to every parent and grandparent for the best safety of the child.
Big, but that's why I chose it February 1, 2010 T. Jelenc (Wiconsin) Of any 5-point harness seats I could have purchased for my 3.5 year old daughter I feel I got the best one. I drive a *small* Jetta (2000) and it is a very tight fit, but I don't know any other seat for her weight range (over 40 lbs.) would have been any smaller. It is a little difficult to install as the width of the seatbelt/seat is more narrow than it should be, but it is still secure. My daughter seems very comfortable in it as she's been falling asleep more frequently on our half hour drive every morning than she had in her old seat. This was an upgrade for us from a smaller Britax model.
