Proper positioning helps keep your child secure in the car, and that's why the Diplomat is chock full of features that ensure your child is seated and strapped in at the safest angle. An easy-turn knob quickly adjusts headrest and harness height without requiring you to uninstall the seat, while the tangle-free, five-point harness ensures a snug and secure fit at multiple heights. There's also a rear-and forward-facing recline option and soft body pillow for child comfort and proper positioning. Convenient belt holders keep the harness to the side so you can comfortably place child in the seat, and premium push-button LATCH connectors provide a quick, simple and tight installation. The Companion also gives you additional peace of mind by featuring engineered True Side Impact ProtectionTM. Deep side walls and head support provide advanced shock-absorption and cushioning in side impact collisions, helping to reduce the risk of injury. Additionally, EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) impact foam lining around the baby's head and torso absorbs energy in side and rear impacts, cradles baby's head to keep it away from protruding parts, cushions violent side to side movements, and creates a comfortable resting spot.  Great car seat, too small. March 7, 2010

I bought this seat for my son when he outgrew his infant seat. While it is everything you'd expect from Britax in terms of quality and comfort, it is very short. My son is a tall 18 month old (90th percentile) and his head was already above the top of the seat with the headrest on the tallest adjustment. I was hoping to use this seat for at least another year or so, but no luck. If you have space issues and need a smaller seat while your child is still rear-facing, I'd recommend something less expensive, since this seat is not going to last very long.

Know that if you order the Huntington color from BabyHugs, you will get a seat that is old. Mine has a date of September 2007 (over 2 years ago). I had an email conversation with babyhugs, they claim a seat is good for 6 years from the date of install. I called Britax, they state a seat is good 6 years from the date of manufacture. Babyhugs has a no return policy on car seats. The seat itself seems OK, just be sure you are getting new stock, not a seat like mine which has lost 1/3 of its useful life.

I ordered this carseat because everything I've read says that Britax is the best and because it was on sale. There are a few things that I don't like about this seat. The biggest issue is that the belts/straps twist constantly. This causes problems when you try to adjust the tightness of the belts. One side always tightens more than the other so my son's shoulder sometimes slips out of the one side which is not what you want to see when you turn back to look at him in the car. I do like that the headrest adjusts up with just the turn of the knob and I really like the quality of the fabric. It's very soft and cushiony but seems like it will be durable. My son seems to love it so far. If I were going to buy another one I will go with the more expensive model, in hopes that it wouldn't have these same issues.

NO complaints, this carseat is great! My son's head never slumps anymore, unlike in his infant Graco carseat. I love that the headrest is adjustable to their height and the comfy waist insert can be removed when he's larger.

I have a 2005 Mazda 3. This car seat is a great fit! We previously had a Chicco for her newborn stage and she hated it. This seems to be so much more comfortable for her. We still use it rear facing. It is the only car seat available that can use the tether attachment in rear facing position. I use it, but it proved difficult at first to get her in and out of the car seat. She needed to learn to relax and do a limbo under the strap to get in. After the first time, she adjusted just fine and now loves it. I also have hung some toys on the tether strap and she can play easily as they dangle over her. Very happy with my purchase.
