Proper positioning helps keep your child secure in the car, and that's why the Diplomat is chock full of features that ensure your child is seated and strapped in at the safest angle. An easy-turn knob quickly adjusts headrest and harness height without requiring you to uninstall the seat, while the tangle-free, five-point harness ensures a snug and secure fit at multiple heights. There's also a rear-and forward-facing recline option and soft body pillow for child comfort and proper positioning. Convenient belt holders keep the harness to the side so you can comfortably place child in the seat, and premium push-button LATCH connectors provide a quick, simple and tight installation. Finally, built-in lock-off clips tightly secure the vehicle seat belt without the need for additional parts you could misplace. True Side Impact ProtectionTM and Versa-Tether for Peace of Mind
The Companion also gives you additional peace of mind by featuring engineered True Side Impact ProtectionTM. Deep side walls and head support provide advanced shock-absorption and cushioning in side impact collisions, helping to reduce the risk of injury. Additionally, EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) impact foam lining around the baby's head and torso absorbs energy in side and rear impacts, cradles baby's head to keep it away from protruding parts, cushions violent side to side movements, and creates a comfortable resting spot. Secondly, the rear- and forward-facing recline allows the patented Versa-Tether, an energy management top tether, to anchor the top of seat to the vehicle in the event of impact, thereby reducing movement. Specifically, the Versa-Tether fastens the top of the car seat to factory installed automobile anchor points, minimizing the possibility of a head injury. This system also allows for rear-facing tethering to help keep the seat consistently stable.

In addition, this system better distributes the webbing loads, reducing head movement and minimizing harness irritation on baby's neck in case of an impact. NO complaints, this carseat is great! My son's head never slumps anymore, unlike in his infant Graco carseat. I love that the headrest is adjustable to their height and the comfy waist insert can be removed when he's larger.

I have a 2005 Mazda 3. This car seat is a great fit! We previously had a Chicco for her newborn stage and she hated it. This seems to be so much more comfortable for her. We still use it rear facing. It is the only car seat available that can use the tether attachment in rear facing position. I use it, but it proved difficult at first to get her in and out of the car seat. She needed to learn to relax and do a limbo under the strap to get in. After the first time, she adjusted just fine and now loves it. I also have hung some toys on the tether strap and she can play easily as they dangle over her. Very happy with my purchase.

My daughter is one years old and she loves to be able to look forward. It fits wonderfully in our compact Mercedes we are extreamly happy with it. PLEASE NOTE WE LOVE AMAZON. HAVING SAID THAT WE WERE ABLE TO GET THIS SAME CAR SEAT ON AMAZON FOR $200 (ONYX) I WOULD SUGGEST THAT PEOPLE WAIT FOR THAT PRICE.
Perfect for a small car January 8, 2010

I own a 2009 Toyota Yaris and this is absolutely perfect.
I was stressing out a little bit because our son was "graduating" from his snap n' go type carseat and I wasn't sure I could find anything to fit in my car. He'd turned one wanted to keep him rear facing as long as we could as recommended by the AAP. This fit perfectly in my car rear facing (until my son got too tall)and forward facing. It's cushioned very nicely, my son is very comfortable and he still sleeps very easily in it and without his head flopping all around. It's sturdy and snug.
I purchased the Huntington color because of the price. Sure, it wasn't my first color choice, but it's a neutral color - and for $100 off, I was definitely willing to sacrifice color preference! It's very nice looking though, and again, very soft. I wish my own seat had the nice fabric that his does!

We like this seat because it is appropriate for smaller vehicles - especially when traveling abroad and using rental cars. It is easy to buckle and fairly light.
